Fireflies
Entomologists say that these fireflies are unique to our area and different than what has been described for eastern states. This is the first of this particular species discovered right here. They are calling it Platte River Photuris for now.

Every year around the middle of June until the first week in July we have our own little light show here at Tomky Fish Farms. In certain areas by the lakes you will be treated to natures light show of fire flies. They come out by the hundreds and it is the most fascinating show - a definite must see.
